BBC: KS3 Bitesize Maths

Bitsize Maths is an online learning resource for revision in Math. It contains revision materials, activities, and tests for a variety of topics that we also explore in MYP Mathematics. KS3 refers to Key Stage 3, which is aimed at 11 to 14 year old students.

Navigate to the Bitsize Maths website; select Maths; then the area of mathematics; and finally click on the specific topic you are interested in. Students will at times be assigned tests in this section, and be required to send screenshots showing their comletion and score to their teacher. To save a screenshot to your desktop on a mac, use the <command, shift, 4> key stroke combination. The screenshot can be sent as a normal file afterwards; by e-mail or through edmodo.

Canadian Mathematics Competitions

The University of Waterloo administers mathematics competitions from Grade 7 to Grade 12 in Canada. The Gauss competition is designed for grade 7 and 8 students. The Pascal and Fryer are both designed for grade 9 students. The university also administers the Sun Life Financial Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge, which is open to all senior students and motivated younger students in Canada. Each contest page includes preparation materials which provide ideal enrichment opportunities.
